Responsible Gambling

— Last reviewed: 2025

At Offline Quessa, we are committed to providing an enjoyable and entertaining environment for every guest who chooses to visit our casino facilities. Gambling is one form of leisure available at our property, and we believe it is best experienced as a voluntary, informed and considered activity. This page sets out our approach to responsible gambling, the tools and measures available to guests, and guidance on where to turn if gambling stops being enjoyable.

These principles reflect the values of (registered at ; Registration Number 8973416). Any queries regarding this page may be directed to us at info@offlinequessaguide.com.

1. Adult-Only Access to Gaming Areas

Access to all gaming areas at Offline Quessa is strictly reserved for persons aged 18 years and over. This is both a legal requirement under New Zealand law and a non-negotiable condition of entry to any part of our casino floor and associated gaming facilities.

Our team members are trained to verify the age of any guest who appears to be under 25 years of age before permitting entry to a gaming area. Acceptable forms of identification include a current New Zealand driver licence, a New Zealand passport, a foreign passport, or any other government-issued photographic proof of age. Entry will be refused where a guest is unable to provide satisfactory identification, regardless of the circumstances.

Guests who are found to have gained access to gaming areas while under the age of 18, or who have facilitated such access for a minor, may be asked to leave the property and may be subject to further action in accordance with applicable New Zealand legislation. We ask all adult guests to exercise responsibility and to avoid encouraging or assisting anyone under 18 to enter or remain in a gaming area.

If you observe a minor in or near a gaming area, please alert a team member or visit our Guest Services desk immediately. We take every report seriously and will act promptly.

2. Keeping Play Entirely Optional

No guest at Offline Quessa is ever expected or required to gamble. Our casino facilities exist alongside a range of other hospitality experiences, and participation in gaming at any level is a personal choice. Our team members will never pressure, encourage or incentivise any guest to gamble beyond their own freely chosen decision to do so.

Gambling should be approached as a leisure activity with a pre-determined budget and time allocation, much like any other form of entertainment. The money placed on any game should be considered the cost of the experience — not an investment, not a strategy to recover costs, and not a reliable source of income. Outcomes in casino games are determined by chance, and there is no system, method or pattern that can guarantee a win.

We encourage every guest to:

  • Decide in advance how much time they are comfortable spending in the gaming area.
  • Set a personal spending limit before approaching any game and treat that figure as fixed.
  • View any winnings as a positive outcome rather than an expectation.
  • Feel completely at ease leaving the gaming area at any time they choose.
  • Enjoy the full range of non-gaming facilities available at Offline Quessa.

3. Time and Spending Limits

Managing both time and money is central to responsible gambling. Offline Quessa actively supports guests in setting and honouring personal limits, and our team members are available to assist with this at any time during your visit.

3.1 Spending Limits

We recommend that guests determine their total gambling budget before they begin play, rather than during it. It can be helpful to:

  • Bring only the cash you are prepared to spend on gaming, keeping other funds separate.
  • Leave credit cards and additional payment methods in your room or secure storage if you are concerned about overspending.
  • Decide at which point you will stop, whether ahead or behind, and honour that decision.
  • Never attempt to recoup losses by increasing stakes or extending your session.

3.2 Time Limits

Extended gaming sessions can distort a person's sense of time and make it harder to make clear decisions. We encourage guests to:

  • Set a specific end time before beginning play and use a phone alarm or watch to stay aware of it.
  • Take regular breaks away from the gaming floor to rest and reflect.
  • Avoid commencing or extending a gaming session when fatigued.

3.3 How We Can Help

Guests who wish to discuss limit-setting or other practical measures during their stay are welcome to speak with any team member or visit Guest Services. We will always respond with discretion and without judgement.

4. Recognising When Gambling May Be Causing Concern

For most people, gambling remains an enjoyable and controlled leisure activity. However, for some individuals it can begin to cause difficulties. Being aware of certain patterns of behaviour can help you or someone you care about to identify when it may be appropriate to seek support or make a change.

The following are some common indicators that gambling may be becoming a concern. This is not a diagnostic checklist and is not intended as a substitute for guidance from a qualified support professional.

Area of Life Possible Indicators
Financial Spending more than intended; borrowing money to gamble; struggling to meet regular expenses; hiding financial difficulties from family members.
Time Gambling for longer than planned; losing track of time during sessions; prioritising gambling over other planned activities.
Emotional Feeling irritable or restless when not gambling; gambling to escape stress or low mood; feeling guilt or regret after a session but continuing to gamble.
Relationships Concealing gambling from family or friends; arguments about gambling-related matters; withdrawing from social activities to gamble instead.
Thinking patterns Believing that a win is "due"; returning to try to win back losses; feeling that gambling must be kept secret.

If you recognise any of these patterns in yourself or in someone you care about, we encourage you to take a break, speak with someone you trust, or contact a support service. Our team is also available to speak with you in confidence.

5. Taking Breaks

Short and regular breaks from the gaming floor are one of the simplest and most effective ways to maintain perspective and make considered decisions. At Offline Quessa, we actively encourage guests to step away from gaming activity and make use of the many other amenities available throughout our property.

During a break, we suggest taking time to:

  • Step outside or into a quiet area of the property to clear your thoughts.
  • Review how much time and money you have spent relative to the limits you set before your session began.
  • Eat or rest if you feel fatigued.
  • Talk with a companion about how you are feeling.
  • Decide honestly whether you are comfortable continuing your session or whether it would be better to conclude it.

There is no pressure to return to the gaming floor after a break. Choosing to end your session at any time is always the right decision if that is what feels appropriate for you.

6. Property Self-Exclusion

Offline Quessa offers a self-exclusion programme that allows guests to formally request exclusion from our casino gaming facilities for a defined period. Self-exclusion is a voluntary, proactive step that some guests find helpful in managing their relationship with gambling.

6.1 How Self-Exclusion Works

A guest who wishes to self-exclude from Offline Quessa's gaming facilities may do so by speaking in person with a member of our Guest Services team or a senior gaming floor team member. The process is handled privately and without judgement.

Once a self-exclusion agreement is in place:

  • The guest's details will be recorded and retained securely for the duration of the exclusion period.
  • Our team members will take reasonable steps to identify and remove the individual from gaming areas if they attend the property.
  • Any winnings accumulated during a self-exclusion period may be forfeited in accordance with our gaming facility terms and applicable New Zealand requirements.

6.2 Duration and Renewal

Self-exclusion periods available at Offline Quessa are typically offered for a minimum of six months and may extend up to a permanent exclusion. Guests who have excluded for a fixed term and wish to consider returning to gaming facilities at the end of that period are encouraged to reflect carefully on their circumstances and, where appropriate, to seek independent support before doing so.

6.3 Limitations

We ask guests to understand that while our team will make every reasonable effort to enforce self-exclusion, we cannot guarantee that a self-excluded guest will never gain access to our property, particularly if they attend in circumstances we could not reasonably anticipate. Guests who are self-excluded are responsible for not entering gaming areas during their exclusion period. If you do enter and wish to be assisted in leaving, please notify any team member.

6.4 Requesting Self-Exclusion

To begin the self-exclusion process, please visit Guest Services in person or send an email to info@offlinequessaguide.com to arrange a private meeting with an appropriately trained team member.

7. Support from Trusted Contacts

Trusted family members, friends and other people close to a guest can play an important role in responsible gambling. Sometimes an outside perspective from someone who knows you well is the most effective prompt to reflect on your habits and make a change.

If you are concerned about a family member or friend who is visiting our property, you are welcome to speak privately with our Guest Services team. We will listen to your concerns and explain the options available to us, including the self-exclusion process and any other relevant measures. We will always handle such conversations with full discretion.

If you are a guest who feels that your gambling is affecting your relationships, we encourage you to speak openly with someone you trust. Sharing your concerns with a family member or close friend is often the first step toward making a positive change. You do not need to wait until a situation becomes serious before reaching out.

Our team members are trained to engage supportively with guests who express concern about their gambling, and with those who raise concerns on behalf of others. We will not share personal information about any guest with a third party except where legally required or with the guest's explicit consent.

8. Local Responsible Gambling Support

New Zealand has a range of community and government-affiliated services available to people who are concerned about their gambling or that of someone close to them. These services are independent of Offline Quessa and can provide confidential support, guidance and referrals.

We encourage guests to contact their local community support services, social services, or appropriate New Zealand government agencies if they feel that gambling has become a concern. Reaching out is a sign of strength, not weakness, and support is available regardless of the stage you are at in recognising the issue.

Our Guest Services team can assist you in identifying appropriate local resources and can provide written materials about responsible gambling support available in the Auckland area and across New Zealand. Please visit the Guest Services desk or email us at info@offlinequessaguide.com to request this information in confidence.

9. Our Commitment as an Operator

is committed to operating its gaming facilities responsibly and in accordance with all applicable New Zealand laws and regulatory requirements. We invest continuously in the training of our team members so that they are equipped to identify signs of concern, respond with empathy, and connect guests with appropriate support without delay.

9.1 Team Member Training

All team members who work in or adjacent to our gaming facilities receive responsible gambling training as part of their induction and on an ongoing basis. This training covers age verification, identification of concerning behaviour, how to approach a guest sensitively, and how to activate our internal responsible gambling procedures.

9.2 Gaming Environment

We take care to design our gaming environment in a way that supports responsible play. This includes making clocks visible so guests can keep track of time, ensuring that guest welfare facilities are easily accessible, and positioning responsible gambling information materials throughout our gaming areas and guest arrival points.

9.3 Marketing Practices

Our marketing activities relating to gaming facilities are conducted responsibly and in accordance with applicable New Zealand advertising standards. We do not target marketing communications at persons who have self-excluded from our property or who have otherwise indicated that they do not wish to receive such communications.

9.4 Continuous Improvement

We review our responsible gambling policies and procedures regularly to ensure they remain current, effective and reflective of best practice. Guests and team members who have suggestions for improving our approach are welcome to share these by contacting us at info@offlinequessaguide.com.
